Make up
Automix is a packaged plant consisting of two main sections:
- control and polymer metering unit
- solution dissolving, aging and dosing tank
The first section is made up of a stainless steel hopper which contains the powdered polyelectrolyte and is provided with antibridge vibrator, powder's min level probe, timer-operated costant-flowrate screwfeeder, pressure switch, solenoid valve, water-intake flowmeter, instantaneous powder-scattering water jet-disperser, and a computerized terminal box holding all electronic devices for a fully automated operation system.
The second section consists of a 1000, 2000, 5000 liters stainless steel tank devided into three chambers by means of gates, each of three chambers being equipped with low-speed stirrers, level probes and clumps-retaining end filter, all of them in stainless steel.
Automatic operations
|
Max 40/c and PLC versions of the plants are provided with an electronic control box allowing a totally automatic operation of these units. In particular, AUTOMIX can be suitably run according to the physical- chemical characteristics of the polyelectrolyte used and to environmental factors as well. In fact, by carrying out a test on the powder prior to the metering phase, allows the system to be calibrated according to the grain size and bulk density of the polymer being used, with consequent high-accuracy. The measurement of intake water flowrate makes it possible to automatically adjust the screwfeeder's timing and flowrate so as to keep the water/polymer ratio absolutely constant as required. The level probes inside the last chamber of the tank are made to automatically act, through a start-stop system, upon the solenoid valve and screw feeder. These are re-activated the moment the min level is reached. The control box is provided with a pad keyboard on its front side allowing entry of data to be done as required for optimal metering. Also located on the keyboard are light indicators which light up in case of malfunctioning of the relevant component (for example, the hopper's led lights up to signal a lack of powder). These same signals can be relayed, either by individual or cumulative contacts, from the terminal board to a remote site for acoustic or visual alarms. Moreover, the control box is already predisposed for connection with two metering pumps and provision is also made for the necessary connections with the tank terminals. Finally, the stainless steel end-filter provides an additional means to ensure absolute absence of non-perfectly dissolved flocs which might endanger the process efficiency. Also predisposed on the control box is a connection to an automatic loader to feed the hopper with powder when this reach its minimum level. |
Semi-automatic operations
In its "S" version, Automix provides a synthesis of accuracy of metering, simple design and automation. Accuracy in metering is achieved by keeping the intake water flowrate steady so that, by knowing the screwfeeder capacity, a constant water/powder ratio can be obtained as well. The unit's simple design, which is one of its major characteristics, combines the advantages of a rugged, yet e reliable construction, with performance in no way inferior to more sophisticated systems. The intake water, having a pressure in the range of 20 to 100 kPa, is controlled by a pressure reducer which keeps the flowrate at the constant value of 1300 l/h approx. The delivery of powder is synchronized by a manually preset timer. The tank is divided into three chambers, each one provided with a stirrer. The first chamber is for dissolution process, the second and the third for the aging. Contrary to Automix Max 40/c, the present version requires a separate control panel for the metering pumps and is not provided with an end filter. The alarm signals are operated through a cumulative connection on the terminal board.
| Accessories | |
New automatic powder loader![]() |
The automatic loader, fully operated through the electronic panel of AUTOMIX, has made it possible to solve the problem of periodically supplying the hopper with powder. No ladders or other accessories are needed to get on top of the hopper. Accordingly, the dangerous handling of bags and possible production of dust have been drastically reduced. The bag no longer needs to be emptied to discharge its content into the tank, but only perforated to allow the stainless steel pipe to pull out the product therefrom. |
Screwfeeder heater![]() |
Resistance for heat power of 200 W - 24 V voltage, provided with thermal switch set at a fixed temperature. It prevent the polyelectrolyte to become packed in damp and cold environment. |
| Outlet piping | PVC or st. steel AISI 304 mainfold provided with flanged ends and connecting the outlet nozzle with the two metering pumps. |
Pump support![]() |
St. steel AISI 304 support for housingg the metering pumps. Overall dimension: mm (1000x500x250) |
Static Mixer![]() |
PVC mixer for spirally feeding the solution of the two metering pumps into one flow of water and ensuring a uniform distribution thereof. |
